Repository-level GitHub Copilot usage metrics generally available
GitHub announced the general availability of repository-level Copilot usage metrics, a feature that provides organizations with per-repository insights into how their teams are using GitHub Copilot. Previously, usage metrics were available only at the organization level, limiting the ability to drill down into specific projects. With this update, administrators can now view metrics such as active users, suggestions accepted, and lines of code accepted for each repository. This granular data helps teams understand which repositories benefit most from Copilot and identify areas where adoption may be lagging. The feature is available to all GitHub Copilot Enterprise and Business customers. No additional configuration is required; the metrics appear automatically in the Copilot usage dashboard. GitHub emphasizes that the data is aggregated and anonymized to protect individual developer privacy. The rollout is complete as of July 17, 2026.
Developers and teams can now track Copilot usage per repository, enabling targeted adoption strategies.
